For me, the best part about being a physician is having long-term relationships with patients. In vascular surgery, it's just a 'one and done' situation where you take out someone's gall bladder and never see them again. People who have vascular disease - you're not curing their disease; you're managing their problems and their disease remains for the rest of their lives. You follow them and monitor them and get to know them really well.
